Recent Project: Down to Earth Website

Down to Earth Nursery, a long-time client, asked me for the third time to redesign their site… and not a second too late, as it had been over 5 years since their last facelift.  We decided to compartmentalize the information to create stronger calls to action on the part of the user, while also making their journey through the site simple and effective.

Since home and garden care is something very personal, we felt it best to let the visuals do the talking.  As Down to Earth carries a huge variety of goods, it would be nearly impossible to list them all on their website, and as such there was no need for many eCommerce features, like prices, shopping carts, or online checkout. Instead, the goal of this website was to create an atmosphere of wonder and delight, where users can view a wide variety of styles and products quickly and easily, intriguing them to visit in person. The site included a section of featured outdoor furniture styles and brands to showcase the wide selection of furniture sets available at Down to Earth.

The resulting design uses rich natural textures, bright animating visuals, and simple, direct copy.  The finished website is absolutely gorgeous.  The website was build on WordPress as a CMS, with heavy customization, including numerous different templates and animation sequences on each page.
